Philosophy of Education
King’s Academy, unto the glory of the Triune God, exists to assist parents in the Great Commission application of the Bible to every area of life and thought, helping students to develop gifts for the building of the
Having been created to worship God, each Lord’s Day believers are empowered to daily present their bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to God. With worship as the pattern and starting point for all of life, King’s Academy is dedicated to training students to be true worshippers, equipped for godly dominion in the world.
King’s Academy is committed to the following educational distinctives:
Worship based philosophy of education
The Father seeks true worshippers that properly reflect His glory in the world. Having been called children of God, forgiven and sanctified, we are enabled to live in the beauty of holiness. The Son, the incarnate Word of God, came to reveal the Father to His elect children. Education is for the purpose of learning to praise God in all things and to faithfully serve Him. The Holy Spirit unites believers to the Triune God to experience true covenant life. Thus, Christian worship is the integration of the world into the life of the Triune God; and Christian education is equipping students to become ambassadors of Christ, consecrating the world to God.
Culture and environment
We hold that all truth is God’s truth. We seek to integrate all subjects with the teachings of the Scriptures and historical Christianity in ways that are natural and not contrived. Our intent is to provide a clear model of the biblical Christian life through our staff and board and to encourage every student to develop a mature love for God and man. Our goal is to foster the culture and environment of a joyful Christian community which is inclusive. While unapologetic in the assertion of our Statement of Faith we recognize that genuine believers may sincerely and lovingly disagree over secondary matters. The result is the cultivation in each student of an appreciation for the views of others, while maintaining a confidence in one’s own views and those of one’s family and denomination.
Philosophy of method
The Bible employs a variety of methods of conveying its message. Among them are lecture, example, one-on-one communication, mentoring, storytelling, poetry, and debate. Striving towards effective interaction with and mastery of the curriculum, these and other methods will be utilized by students and a knowledgeable faculty. Students will engage in reading, writing, singing, listening, memorization, hands-on work, ritual, research, repetition, computer and science labs, and oral presentations.
Philosophy of curriculum
King’s Academy is steadfast in its commitment to teaching children to bring every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Cor. 10:4-6). The entire curriculum is self-consciously developed to demonstrate the relationship between the subject matter and God as revealed in the Bible. Students will be taught a thorough perspective in all subjects, integrating an understanding of Christ’s kingdom, past, present and future. King’s Academy is dedicated to a rigorous education, preparing students for further training in their callings. Additionally, there will be training in worship as part of the core curriculum (i.e. prayers, creeds, singing, the Church calendar, etc.).
Parents
The primary responsibility for education rests with parents, to whom children are entrusted by God. King’s Academy exists to provide a medium of delegation and division of labor to Christian parents for the education of their children. King’s Academy will maintain regular and close communication with individual parents to direct and facilitate the education of their children. Additionally, parents are encouraged to participate at all levels: service on the faculty and staff, volunteers, active Parent Fellowship members, committee members, and members of the Board of Directors.
The Church
King’s Academy joyfully acknowledges that the Church of Jesus Christ is “the pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Tim. 3:15). King’s Academy is specifically indebted to
